In a tale of unexpected circumstances, Kamduang (Bella Ranee) must take on the task of her ailing father, Yod, who drives buffalo from the northeast to Thung Yai. At the same time, Khun Aek (James Jirayu), a high-ranking officer, is assigned as a negotiator to procure weapons to protect the city from the notorious thief Srichai. To make matters worse, the governor’s wife dies tragically, and according to local tradition, all nobles must send their eldest unmarried sons to be ordained as monks to dedicate their merits to their ladyship.

His father is aware of the possible consequences if Khun Aek is ordained and comes up with a lie: He claims that Khun Aek is married – that he took a wife while serving in Bangkok to thwart the corrupt nobles’ control over the arms deal negotiations. Thus begins Khun Aek’s search for a wife. Khun Aek meets Kamduang in a tight spot, who has just delivered buffalo to his house. Khun Ek persuades her to pretend to be his wife and offers her a rare golden ginseng, which she needs to cure her sick father. Kamduang agrees, but their biggest challenge is transforming the fiery, rough girl into a cultured, sophisticated lady of Bangkok’s high society. The mismatched couple must fight through a war with a dark, sorcerous bandit, political intrigue, and their growing attraction amidst a love triangle.
