BEC WORLD, a market leader in news, information, and entertainment with regional content management and distribution network, is delighted to announce another successful year in licensing, specifically its Thai TV series’ premiere, into the African market. Moreover, BEC World has licensed various titles with 2,300 hours in a multi-territory deal with the following platforms and broadcasters in Asia and Africa.

Plus, we deepened our relationship with Netopia in South Korea, where our content has resonated well with the locals, in addition to an already strong fan base in Southeast Asia through regional and global streamers and free-to-air channels,” says Mr. Surin Krittayaphongphun, President and Director of BEC World. “We’re committed to growing our distribution network outside Thailand while staying true to producing content that appeals to our core fans in Thailand and CLMV. Other than Asia, LATAM and Africa will be strong secondary markets, and we remain hopeful on Thai content’s acceptance worldwide.”
Star Times, the leading OTT platform in more than 41 African countries, acquired “Waves of Life” and “The Unidentical Twins,” which premiered on November 3 and December 8, respectively, on Star Times’ platforms.
Further, BEC also continued Thai series distribution into the East Asia region, including major platforms in China. Delayed simulcast of “Bad Romeo” and “Game of Outlaws” was broadcasted on Tencent Video and “The Crown Princess” was also re-licensed. “Praomook” was distributed to MangoTV, “The Loyal Wife” to iQiyi, and “Game of Affection” to YouKu.
In Korea, Netopia Company Limited purchased a second package of Thai Lakorn with over 150 hours for its three own and operated linear channels, Smile TV Plus, TVA (TVAsia) Plus, and WeeTV. Netopia will distribute a mix of re-licensed and new titles through various VOD platforms in South Korea. They include: “Love Destiny,” a romantic comedy hit which performed very well on its platform, “Dare to Love,” “My Husband in Law,” “Switch,” and “To Me, It’s Simply You.” Netopia acquires titles that star Bella, Nadech, and Yaya.
Impressive results were demonstrated in South East Asia this year with GMA Network Inc., the largest broadcaster in the Philippines, securing its third package, a total of 256 hours, which includes “Are We Alright?” “Bad Romeo,” “Game of Outlaw,” “Love and Deception,” “My Forever Sunshine,” “The Deadly Affair,” “To Me it’s Simply You,” and “You Are My Make-Up Artist.”
Netflix added to its South East Asian slate with eight simulcast titles:“Bad Romeo,” “The Deadly Affair,” “The Miracle of Teddy Bear,” “The Kinnaree Conspiracy,” “Lipgloss Spy,” “Sup’tar 2550,” “The Root,” and “You’re my Make-up Artist.”
VIU Southeast Asia acquired “Bad Romeo,” “Love & Deception,” “My Sassy Psychic,” and “Romance from Far Away” in the first quarter of 2022, main Singapore broadcaster MediaCorp TV dubbed “A Tale of Ylang Ylang” and “Eternal” for its Mandarin-speaking audience on Channel U and meWATCH, and Media Prima (Ch 9 Media Sdn. Bhd.) a free-to-air broadcaster in Malaysia, acquired “World of Himmapan,” its second Thai Lakorn after “Switch.”
Thai Lakorns’ reach extended to Cambodia, where BEC continues its long-term partnership with PNN TV. In Vietnam, Viettel acquired “A Tale of Ylang Ylang,” while TrueID licensed library titles such as “Thong Ek: The Herbal Master,” “To Me, It’s Simply You,” “Dare to Love,” “Game of Outlaws,” and “The Miracle of Teddy Bear.”
